legs without signs of varicose veins

In the warm season, when you really want to wear shorts and a skirt, drawing attention to your legs, you can spoil the image with a vascular network, stars and swelling - clear signs of varicose veins. We learned from a professional phlebologist how to solve this problem quickly and permanently.

"Every man is more interested in a woman who is interested in her than a woman with beautiful legs, " Marlene Dietrich said. But let's not forget about the health and beauty of her legs.

Expert opinion: vascular surgeon and phlebologist: "The most obvious signs of varicose veins in the lower extremities (or, more simply, varicose veins) are not so many. The visible spider veins (telangiectasias), prominent veins and nodules are the most prominent. It is impossible not to notice such symptoms. But they appear when the disease is already running. But leg heaviness, restless legs syndrome, and swelling are not as obvious symptoms of varicose veins. If you already have it, this is a good reason to sign up for a phlebologist consultation. This disease is usually well known in adult women, although unfortunately young girls and even men know it first hand.

Why do varicose veins appear?

The older we are, the greater the risk of developing a varicose vein: we sit a lot and walk little, we gain excess weight, the blood thickens, hormonal changes occur, the level of collagen in the wall of the blood vessels decreases, which reduces flexibility and respiration. density of veins. As a result, blood stagnation begins in the legs, the veins dilate under pressure, and the valves no longer close as tightly as they should. Because of this, some of the blood flows downward, becoming even more stagnant and putting even more pressure on the veins, stretching them. The blood flow slows down and the lymph gradually penetrates the walls of the vessels. Edema occurs and we feel heaviness in the legs. If you do not start treatment at this stage, the disease will progress.

The disturbed operation of the venous keys will not be restored. First, a blue network of blood appears on the legs. Lumps then form in the veins - the blood stagnates and thickens in them, from which blood clots then form. This is called thrombophlebitis. Very dangerous: a blood clot detached from and leaving such a lump has a high risk of stroke or heart attack.

Most often, varicose veins are inherited. This also happens to those who are exposed to a static load, such as when they are constantly "on their feet" (in the shops) or sitting all the time (all office workers). In addition, varicose veins can cause injuries, chronic vitamin and mineral deficiencies, hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause), obesity or overweight, diabetes, heavy lifting, frequent high heels.

How to get rid of varicose veins

In fact, walking is sometimes enough to prevent varicose veins from appearing. According to WHO standards, this is about 10, 000 steps a day, which is not so much. If you are in danger (i. e. you have such a problem in your family), you should see a phlebologist, use compression stockings, try not to gain weight, limit the static load on your legs, wear comfortable shoes, take a venotonic (only on the advice of a doctor) that strengthensthe walls of blood vessels and relieves inflammation.

The vascular network can be removed by sclerosing injections. They are injected into small blood vessels, which cause them to become artificially inflamed and "stick together". The procedure is virtually painless and takes no more than 10 minutes.

Enlargement of large veins is treated with endovascular laser coagulation (EVLT for short). This is a relatively new method that has been around for about 20 years. Thanks to him, vascular surgeons were able to abandon surgery almost completely in favor of minimally invasive interventions. A very thin laser is inserted into a vein under anesthesia and with ultrasound control - as thick as a fishing line. The laser beam acts on the inner wall of the vein and coagulates over its entire length and then simply closes over time. The whole procedure is fully automated - the laser and the ultrasound sensor move on their own. The procedure takes about 40 minutes. A special compression stocking is then placed on the foot and must be worn for three days without being removed. After the procedure, the patient's movement is not restricted, he can go home on his own. The effect can be observed within a few days.
